A Nice Quiet Sunday to Relax

I'm having a nice, relaxing Sunday catching up on my reading...Michelle is taking Riley to an audition for the King & I and Doug has driving lessons...it's good to be a bear.

Riley's Gymnastic Meet & the Harvest Festival Cruise

Riley is holding onto me while we ride on the back of the seat of the T-Bird during the Myrtle Point Harvest Festival cruise. It was a lot of fun watching the other cars & people go by.
This was Michelle's favorite car of the cruise...a Mach 1 Mustang, very original & in wonderful condition.
Here we are parked at the side of the road watching the other cars go by for awhile. We had a lot of fun tonight at the cruise.

Riley had her first gymnastic meet this morning. She did pretty well. The video is of her doing the vault. This is a warm up run.

Stuff We've Been Up To

I have this sweet little teacup & saucer that Michelle found at a thrift store for me. Here I am having a cup of tea with my good friend Tottie. She's not much for drinking tea herself.
Michelle finally finished the punch embroidery rug she was making for me. The flowers are Mexican Hats. Didn't it turn out well? I'm very found of it & it will look great in my basket. Michelle is fairly happy with it, but says she can do better, she's just out of practice. She did a whale rug also for her Hitty dolls, but is smaller.

My Pet

I found this egg this weekend at the Fun Festival at a booth that advertised that it had dinosaur poop. The guy said he didn't know what kind of egg it was, but that he'd sell it to me for 10 cents. I dug deep and found a dime and bought the egg.
I couldn't wait for the egg to hatch so that I could find out what kind of pet I have. I tried sitting on the egg to hurry it up. After all, birds lay eggs & then they sit on them, but Michelle said it looked like some kind of reptile egg & they don't do anything special to them after they lay them except to maybe bury them.
I listened closely several times a day to see if I could hear my new pet moving around inside the shell.
Then early this morning I heard some horrible cracking. I ran to check & there among the remains of the shell was this little baby dragon! What am I gonna do with a baby dragon?
Although, he does seem awfully nice. He apparently likes to have his head & ears rubbed. See how happy it makes him. He is very cute, actually he's quite the handsome little dude.
Turns out that baby dragons like to cuddle up on your lap! Who knew! I think this baby dragon is going to be a great pet. Now, I just gotta talk Michelle into a trip to the store for baby dragon chow.

Look What We Got At The Salvation Army Today

Michelle just felt like she had to go to Salvation Army today. We found these wonderful little china plates and the darling painted bowl. I don't know if you can read the price tags, but they were only .30 to .50 cents each...the little bowl was slightly more, but was so gorgeous that Michelle didn't mind.
We also found the embroidery hoops-what we went in looking for originally-so that Michelle can get back into doing needle punch embroidery. She is going to make me a wonderful little rug for my basket (as well as one for the Hittys w/a whale on it). The mammoth will go to Doug who likes the beanie baby dinosaurs-we know, not a dinosaur, but close enough. That darling doll was buried under a pile of other dolls in the craft section. She was way too sweet to leave there. Look how she's hugging me!

Cruz the Coos

Tonight as part of the Bay Area Fun Festival is the annual Cruz the Coos. Michelle, Doug, and I are in the 64 Falcon convertible. It's a lovely little car, baby blue, power everything, and since the night was mild we had the top down all night. Nothing like a little wind in my fur.
Gregg & Riley were in the 65 Mustang in front of us at the start of the cruise. We got separated from them eventually. There were over 400 cars in the cruise tonight, it was very cool. This is me "helping" w/the driving. Tomorrow is the car show at Shore Acres State Park. We probably won't put anything in the show, but will attend to look at all the beautiful cars.

I Got to See Smokey the Bear!

Today is the Bay Area Fun Festival parade. We were standing at the curb watching it go by & then there he was...Smokey the Bear! I was so excited I almost fainted. Fortunately, Michelle is much more pragmatic about seeing celebrities and just took his picture for me. Wait until you see my new pet that we found at a booth after the parade!

A Trip to the Library

Doug & Riley didn't have school today, so we went to the library. What a great place! All those books and you can check out any of them for free. I couldn't make up my mind, so I allowed Riley to pick out a few books. Then Michelle got Riley's library card out of her purse and Riley checked them out all by herself. Doug wanted a specific book, but it wasn't in. He still had to update his library card-he's recently had a birthday-so he could put a hold on it. I wanted to get myself a library card, but Michelle says you can't get a card until you can sign your own name. Sigh, I can't write yet. Michelle said I could check out books under her card just like the kids did until they could sign their names, but I still want my own.

New Friends Made Today

Michelle has been worried that I haven't been spending enough time with other bears. So today I took a walk around the neighborhood and made two new friends. This is Russ. He was just coming home from work. He's a really nice bear.
This is Bzzzy. He's a bee bear. You don't see a lot of bee bears, but they are also really nice. They also don't sting.
We decided to play Hide & Seek. Bzzzy agreed to be "it" first, so Russ & I are running off to hide. We played for a long time & then went back to my basket & watched some TV. It was fun playing with some other bears! Don't tell Michelle she was right, it goes straight to her head.

Another fun day racing & look at the pretty

Well, I didn't work up the nerve to ride in the JR Dragster with Riley today. She still did well & came in third place.

When we got home I found these beautiful calla lillies in the flower bed. They were from Grandma Kirby's garden, so they have great sentimental value to the whole family.

A Day at the Races

This is the last weekend for drag racing this season. Here I am with Riley. I was going to go with her during eliminations. She's all suited up & strapped in her car.
You can just see me here. I'm at her waist belt between the shoulder harnesses, all tucked in & ready to go. Unfortunately, I chickened out at the last minute. Tomorrow's the last day & I might try again.
This is the way cute little toolbox that another racer's family gave to Riley. I think it's just the perfect size for me. I could get my own little tools & maybe eventually, my own little dragster. Michelle says before I can get my own car, I gotta quit being afraid to go for a ride with Riley.

Check out what we did yesterday

I got a passport! Don't know when or where I'll use it yet, but I'm ready. Michelle also spent a good portion of the day making Artist trading cards for a swap & she used a picture of me on them. The one pictured is one of 6, they are all similar, but not exactly the same. She used some of the same things on the cards that she often uses on bears...ribbons, buttons, flowers. The stickers are just plain cute.
Here is the inside of the passport. Has all the pertinent information about me. This is the back of the artist trading card (atc). It has Michelle's signature, the month & year of creation, which number of 6, email, and my blog address. These were fun for Michelle to make & she might start making them to go with the bears she makes to sell.

My Most Elegant Dance Instructor

Today I started ballet lessons, here I am with my instructor, Aveline. Isn't she just the most elegant lady?! Here we are working on positioning my arms & legs. I'm having a little trouble, but Aveline assures me that with practice I will become graceful & elegant too!

See How My Garden Grows

Well, we went back to work this week. Our vacation just seemed to fly by. Today after I got up I checked on my garden. Look at all the little plants! I wasn't really 100% convinced this would work, but it did. I can't wait to see how this will progress...I need a little watering can all my own. Oh, Michelle...

Finished planting my own garden

Well, it's been 12 hours. Seeds are on the left, growing medium in the middle, and the cute little planter is on the right.
First, the growing medium is put in the planter...
Then the seeds are sprinkled on the growing medium...
Then the planter is put where it will get plenty of indirect sunlight...
And finally, it's time to go to bed, all cuddled up w/my new dolly.

Planting seeds

Michelle bought a kit at Joann's to grow lavender on a really good sale, here it is w/the dirt & seeds in. Just have to add more dirt & water.
Then I get surprised w/a little garden of my very own! I even get a little doll with this kit.
But first we have to soak the seeds for 12 hours,
And the growing medium also has to soak for 12 hours...
In the meantime, I'll play w/my new doll and the flowers!
