Finally, a new dress!

Check out my new dress! Finally, I've been campaigning & hinting for like ever. I really like it, it's very feminine & I get to wear bows. My hope is to eventually have an outfit for every holiday...Halloween is coming so I better get busy hinting again.

The Fair Prize

We got the fair entries picked up yesterday and found out that Michelle won a $25 gift certificate to a yarn store for getting Best of Division-Crochet! Yeah! We've never been to this store, but we hear good things from some others who have been there. We have to wait until next week to go, because our days off & their days open are not coinciding until then. In the meantime we are planning a trip to the beach soon. There's a photo challenge coming up next month in the ThreadAnimals group called By the Seashore (0r something similar) and the mermaid above is going to be the star of the shoot. We'll probably also go to the botanical gardens at Shoreacres and maybe try to find some sea lions to take pictures of.

When I go to work

I go to work with Michelle at the 911 center. While I'm there I have my own chair-pictured above-that I sit in on the console so that I can watch & be in the action. Of course some days are full of action and some days are full of paperwork. But everyday is different & rarely boring. My chair is quite comfy & I enjoy having a purpose-Michelle claims I help her maintain her sanity when everyone else is insane, and that I give her something to smile about...such is the charm of bears.

Fair results!

We are very excited! Michelle entered 11 items into the fair and got 10 ribbons! 2 red or 2nd place ribbons, and 8 blue or 1st place ribbons. On top of that there's a little bear ornament that she made from crochet that is her own pattern that got Best of Division! A first for her. Riley also did well, her little cross stitch lizard got a blue ribbon and the DREAM wall hanging she made got a white ribbon (3rd place).

There was also lots of rides for the kids and a reptile exhibit. We got to pet a baby alligator, which Michelle was more excited about than I was, and of course all the other fun exhibits and the animal barns. Michelle forgot the camera, again, so no pictures :-(

My Travel Bag

My travel bag is finished! Here I am peeking out the top. Notice the little quartz crystal attached to the ribbon? It was a gift in a swap from one of the groups online that Michelle belongs to. Anyway, now I can travel in style & comfort & not worry about getting torn up or raggedy.

Busy couple of days!

Saturday we-Gregg, Michelle, & I, ran up the coast and went to Longview, Wa. We were retrieving the 1955 T-bird that was being stored by Ed & Maggie. They have an adorable new puppy named Hope. Hope was thrown out of a moving van in front of the place that Ed & Maggie work at. She has a terrible case of mites, but should be good as new in 4-6 weeks now that she has a loving home. We also got to meet Ruby-the queen of the household and their pet bird.

Today we-Riley, Michelle, Cieara, and I, went to Myrtle Point to put our entries in the fair. Riley had two entries, Michelle had 11 entries! Cieara & I were just along for the ride. Judging is tomorrow & the fair starts Tuesday. We will find out how everyone did then.

My Yarn Shop trip

We decided that I'm going to need a carry pouch so that I don't get all ratty, so today we went to My Yarn Shop for some pure silk thread to make it out of...I only travel in style. The picture to the left is part of the store selection of yarn. The picture below is the yarn we actually bought. My pouch will be made of the Turquoise yarn, the rest of the yarns will be made into more bears & possibly bunnies.

Trip to Elkton Butterfly Pavilion

Today we visited the Elkton Butterfly Pavilion. It was really interesting and fun. Our tour guide was a realy nice young man named Thad. We saw Monarch butterflies, Painted Lady butterflies, Monarch caterpillars, pupae, and so many plants that act as hosts and nectar producers. It was great. We even looked through a microscope to see what butterfly wings look like-they look like scales.

Fireworks last night

Wow, fireworks were a lot of fun to watch. We went with the family, including the nieces Lakin, Nicole, and Trisha...also the great-nephew Skylar. He is only two and was a real hoot to watch.
